Rockshots Records è orgogliosa di annunciare l’uscita di “Shadow Spell”, il nuovo singolo dei symphonic death metallers NEFASTIS, disponibile da oggi, 7 gennaio 2026 su tutte le piattaforme digitali.
“Shadow Spell” apre ufficialmente il percorso narrativo di “Shadows At The Light Of Dawn“, ambizioso concept album suddiviso in quattro atti e concepito come un’esperienza d’ascolto continua e coinvolgente. Il brano segue un’introduzione strumentale e definisce immediatamente il tono emotivo e narrativo dell’opera, catapultando l’ascoltatore in uno scenario post-apocalittico segnato da sentimenti come angoscia e disorientamento spirituale.
Sul piano musicale, “Shadow Spell” mette in evidenza l’evoluzione artistica dei NEFASTIS fondendo solide basi death metal con orchestrazioni stratificate, strutture progressive e temi melodici inquietanti. Passaggi pianistici intensi e ampie trame sinfoniche convivono con riff incisivi, una sezione ritmica dinamica ed una prova vocale autorevole, dando vita ad un’atmosfera oscura e fortemente narrativa costruita su una costante e drammatica tensione narrativa.
Dal punto di vista lirico, il brano racconta il cammino dei sopravvissuti all’indomani di una catastrofe nucleare, accompagnati da presenze irrequiete che infestano il mondo devastato attorno a loro. Questa duplice dimensione – fisica e spettrale – diventa un elemento centrale del racconto, rafforzando il tema portante dell’album: l’umanità di fronte all’estinzione, alla memoria ed al decadimento.
Attivi dal 2008, i NEFASTIS hanno debuttato nel 2014 con il concept album “De Diebus Fastis, Nefastis, Infaustis“, per poi ridefinire nel tempo il proprio linguaggio sonoro verso una forma più ampia ed orchestrale di symphonic death metal. Con “Shadow Spell”, la band inaugura un nuovo e decisivo capitolo della propria carriera ponendo le basi per il progetto più ambizioso mai realizzato fino ad oggi.

BIOGRAPHY:
Formed in 2008, Nefastis are an Italian Symphonic Death Metal band known for their strong conceptual approach and continuously evolving musical identity. From the very beginning, the band focused on original compositions gradually shaping a sound that blends extreme metal intensity with orchestral depth and progressive structures.
Nefastis made their recording debut in 2014 with “De Diebus Fastis, Nefastis, Infaustis“, a thrash/death metal concept album divided into four acts and conceived as a narrative work. The release earned the band recognition within the underground scene and led them to share the stage with internationally renowned acts such as Toxik, Leprous, Hirax, Onkel Tom Angelripper and Bonded By Blood.
Following the debut, lineup changes forced the band into a hiatus. During this period, Nefastis underwent a significant artistic transformation redefining their sound and expanding their compositional vision. Moving away from a more direct thrash-oriented approach, the band embraced a broader and more cinematic form of symphonic death metal, characterized by orchestral arrangements, progressive songwriting and a strong narrative dimension.
This evolution fully materializes in “Shadows At The Light Of Dawn“, a four-act concept album set in a post-apocalyptic world and conceived as a continuous and immersive listening experience. Each act is introduced by an instrumental piece that establishes the atmosphere of the chapter, guiding the listener through a cohesive musical and emotional journey. The album was produced by the band, mixed by Frank Altare and mastered by Tony Lindgren at Fascination Street Studios (Angra, Amorphis, Kreator, Dimmu Borgir, Opeth, Powerwolf).
With “Shadows At The Light Of Dawn“, Nefastis reaffirm their commitment to ambitious songwriting and genre-crossing composition merging death metal, orchestral music and progressive influences into a unified and expressive soundscape.
